Shane Whitehead was born in Denver Colorado. After completing his Associates Degree at the Colorado Institute of Art focusing on advertising design, he continued to the University of Northern Colorado to obtain his BA. With a desire to pursue fine art, Shane shifted his emphasis to print making and sculpture.
Upon graduation from UNC, Shane entered the field of Aerial Photography. He spent the next 13 years working on both oblique and vertical techniques. This field eventually led him to Dallas in January of 2000. Here he met and began to train with Dr. Nick Chamberlain in the art of GaSan Ryu Kenpo. Shane began his Kenpo teaching career in 2002, and now runs his own dojo.
In 2006 Shane joined Tarrant County College District and began teaching self-defense. He is currently an Instructional Associate in the Department of Kinesiology at the TCC Northeast Campus. Within his role in Kinesiology Shane is a current Red Cross Lifeguard, American Heart Association BLS instructor and an ACE certified Personal Trainer. He serves as an advisor to the Martial Arts Club, teaches Faculty and Staff Self Defense as well as Women’s Self Defense seminars.
Most recently, Shane is concentrating his creative focus on mixed media and abstract pieces. He continues to explore and diversify his creative work in printmaking, sculpting, creating and hand binding fine art books, and digital photography.
